Pray for the Region of Navarre
Navarre, in northern Spain, bridges the Basque Country and Aragon. Known for Pamplona’s Running of the Bulls and its diverse landscape, it is Spain’s region with the lowest percentage of evangelicals — only 10 churches and 440 believers as of 2008. Nine towns over 5,000 people have no evangelical church. The Basque-speaking north has been especially resistant to the Gospel. While deeply Catholic, secularism is also on the rise.
Key Prayer Points
Navarre is a land of deep tradition and spiritual resistance. As you pray, ask God for breakthrough in the Basque-speaking north, strength for isolated believers, and open hearts among students and festival-goers. Let’s pray for unity, bold witness, and a fresh move of the Spirit in this spiritually dry region. [WePray4Spa…gion ideas]
The Hardest Soil
Navarre’s spiritual ground is hard. Pray for a breakthrough. Ask God to raise up strategies to reach the Basque-speaking north — through Basque-language media, literature, and partnerships with believers from the Basque Country.
Youth and Education
Pamplona is home to the University of Navarre. Pray for students to encounter Jesus, even within Catholic contexts. During the San Fermín festival, pray for outreach opportunities to both locals and international visitors.
Catholic Background Relationships
Pray for respectful and loving dialogue between evangelicals and Catholics. Ask that ancient seeds of faith — like the 16th-century Protestant stirrings — would bear fruit today.
