Pray for the Region of La Rioja

For the next three Thursdays, we will be focusing our daily prayer on the region of La Rioja. This small region in north-central Spain is famed worldwide for its wine (Rioja wine region). It’s a land of rolling vineyards and a population of just 320,000. Spiritually, La Rioja has had very little evangelical presence. By 2008, it counted only 8 evangelical churches and around 382 evangelical believers total – making it one of the smallest evangelical communities of any region. Only the capital, Logroño, and a couple of other towns have churches. Pray for the encouragement of the tiny evangelical community in La Rioja. With only 8 churches, believers can feel isolated. Ask God to fill them with the Holy Spirit and boldness, that their witness far outstrips their numbers. Pray especially for the church in Logroño to grow and become a resource hub for the smaller groups.
