Pray for Extremadura
Extremadura, bordering Portugal in southwest Spain, is often called the “forgotten land.” Historically poor and sparsely populated, it has one of the smallest evangelical populations in the country. Yet it is also the birthplace of Casiodoro de Reina and Cipriano de Valera, translators of the Spanish Bible. From just a handful of churches in the 1980s, the region has seen growth — especially among the Gypsy community — but 19 towns over 5,000 people still lack a church.
Key Prayer Points
Extremadura is a land of spiritual legacy and fresh beginnings. As you pray, focus on giving thanks for recent growth, asking for churches in every town, and praying for holistic transformation in communities facing poverty and isolation.
Thank God for Progress
Praise the Lord for the growth over the past two decades. Gypsy churches have flourished, and new congregations are being planted. Give thanks for the perseverance of local believers and the support of missions.
Churches in Every Corner
Ask God to provide a witness in every major town. Pray for the remaining unreached towns, for language barriers to be overcome, and for campus ministries to thrive in the universities of Cáceres and Badajoz.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
Extremadura’s economic struggles affect its spiritual climate. Pray for churches to bring practical love — through literacy, job training, and care for the elderly. Ask God to replace hopelessness with transformation.
