Pray for Catalonia

Catalonia, in northeast Spain, is one of Europe’s cultural and economic powerhouses. Its capital, Barcelona, is a vibrant port city and a hub for evangelical ministry. With 7.3 million people, Catalonia is Spain’s second most populous region and home to a distinct language and identity. While it has the highest number of evangelical churches in Spain (316 as of 2008), 70 towns over 5,000 people still lack a church. Strong secularism and cultural pride present unique challenges for the Gospel.

Key Prayer Points

Catalonia is a region of diversity and influence. As you pray, focus on unity among believers, outreach to unreached towns, and bold witness in secular society. Let’s ask God to raise up a church that reflects His love across every language and culture.

Unity in Diversity

Pray for unity between Catalan-speaking and Spanish-speaking believers. Ask God to break down cultural and linguistic barriers so the Body of Christ can speak with one voice of love.

Reach the Unreached Towns

Lift up the 70 towns over 5,000 people with no church, especially in provinces like Girona and Lleida. Pray for church-planting movements to extend from Barcelona outward, reaching rural and coastal communities.

Navigating Secularity and Nationalism

Catalonia is highly secular and politically active. Pray for the church to be a beacon of peace and relevance, especially among urban professionals and students shaping the future.
